Architectural Day / Night Rendering (Quick Tutor)

bonjour!

di halaman ini aku mau share tentang bagaimana cara aku utk bwt visualisasi arsitektur siang / malam pake 3D SketchUp dan Rendering Vray. (Google SketchUp Pro 7.1 ASGVIS Vray for SketchUp 1.48.98)

in this page, i would like to share about how to make architectural visualization on daylight or night-time rendering use 3D SketchUp and Vray Rendering.

pertama, tema arsitektur yang aku buat modern tropis, ya kurang lebih seperti gambar diatas model globalnya. rendernya pake default setting, sm override materials.

first, i choose modern tropical for my architectural theme, more or less as you can see the image above, that's the global model, quite simple. I use vray default settings, and override materials on.

aku coba taruh semua vegetasi yang aku bisa taruh di scene-ku. Sumbernya dari 3D warehouse semua.
aku render dgn override materials, jadi teksturnya blum kliatan.

i try to put as many vegetation as i can in my scene above. The source of the 3D models are from 3D warehouse. I render w/ override materials still on, because i'm not applying the textures yet.

DAY

in day time render, i'm still using the default setting, but the sun intensity upscale into 3.0
i use also HDRi which i got from http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/ i add the textures and mercedes saloon also from the warehouse. the textures i downloaded from www.cgtextures.com

diatas hasilnya.
above is the result.

then at the end i do post-processing use photoshop to create sharp mood of my scene.

diatas hasilnya.
above is the result.

NIGHT

pada render malam hari memang lebih sulit namun hasilnya sedikit lebih atraktif dibanding siang hari. settingan yang diubah hanya HDRi pada GI dan BGcolor, jadi HDRi pada malam hari, dapat dari www.openfootage.net
iso kamera aku naikin jadi 1200, shutter speed 60
pada kasus malam hari, aku tempatkan banyak lampu, tapi karena agak rumit aku ga bisa terangkan satu persatu. semuanya rectangular lights dengan invisible:on ; store Irridiance map:on

in the night time render in fact is more complicated and difficult to day rendering. but the result i guess more attractive. the settings are still the same, except the HDRi files which i replace it with the night time ones. i get it from www.openfootage.net
camera ISO: 1200, shutter speed: 60
in this case i put many lights, most are rectangular lights, sorry i can't explain it one by one for the whole detail process, because it's too long to describe step by step. rectangular lights dengan invisible:on ; store Irridiance map:on

diatas hasilnya.
above is the result.

hasilnya agak gelap. aku lupa mengaktifkan layer lampu-nya.
oops, i forget to turn on the lights layer.
above is the result.

then at the end, again i do post-processing use photoshop to create sharp mood of my scene. most of this process is quite difficult to tell. but overall i only fix the colors, tone the contrast and level, sharpen the image, and add volume light and lens flare on the mercedes'

Voila! i'm happy for the result. it much much better.
terimakasih atas perhatiannya di tutorial ekspres ini. aku ingin pada kesempatan berikutnya posting video tutorial, cari waktu senggang dulu. hopefully there's enough time...

see u next time...

Vray Pond Water Tutorial

Bonjour! - by andrepradiktha-

we meet again

here's small tutorial of creating pond water in Vray for SketchUp.

first, i want to remind you that i recommend that you learn the basic of vray sketchup first, how to manage vray settings ("O"), how to create materials ("M"), how to model, and how to compose your scene in sketchup.

by this prologue, i assume that you already mastered the basic.

in the first picture, i create a kinda room, it's look dark, yes, and i use all the default vray settings (except ambient occlusion, i turn it on).

the next picture, how to compose lighting. even though your scene is a very simple or small scene, you must choose wisely where the void and sun ray come from and how it gonna fill your room / scene with ray illumination, and what mood you like to create. i make great wide opens from the right.

third picture, then create the pond. in this case i create a horizontal and straight type of pond with stepping stone in the middle. the depth is about 40cm (i use metric scale).

the fourth, i create the water, which is now just a plain water. Renamed it with 'pond', i made the material just add the reflection and refraction layer, change the reflection 'm' with TexFresnel and the IOR value i change it to 1.33 (both value)
the fog color i also change it to green somekind of tortuise green or, aqua green (between green and blue)

the fifth, i do experiment with the displacement map in the 'pond' material. i click the 'm' button on the displacement map, and i select TexNoise (this is for creating a very simple water wave. (use only the size and amplitude parameter. i change the size to about 10 and the amplitude to 5).

the sixth picture, i do experiment now with bitmap displacement map, or TexBitmap. the grayscale picture that i used (below). i change the repeat map value to 0.1. but i don't like it. it doesn't look like a pond, it looks like a sea for me.

the seventh, i decided to use this bitmap (below). and develop my model more complex.
in fact you can create your water displacement map yourself with picture editor like photoshop or gimp in order to match your scene or type of water that you want to achieve.

the eight, discover your creativity. materialized your model and add HDRi image background to create mood in your scene. (about HDRis, look at my material tutorial)

we almost done, with more complexity in your scene will create more illumination and ambience. do experiment!

Voila! the last final render image i do post-processing in photoshop, and do the edit just like the prior tutorial i made. learn from other photoshop artist will be very helpful!

Enjoy another Vray for SketchUp tutorial from me...
